Life is what you make it….

Life is what you make it…..

If you’re retired, sad, lonely and don’t know what to do,
Here’s a few ideas, they work for me, they will for you.
First throw that negativity out of door,
Be positive, get out there, I’ll tell you more.

Ladies you can join art classes or the WI,
Golf, sailing, or rowing is there for the men,
A knit and natter group if you like to knit,
A leisure centre if you want to keep fit.

There really is so much to do,
Wonder what will appeal to you,
Swimming, yoga, Zumba or the gym,
Will keep you happy and keep you slim.

Stay for coffee, chat for a while,
You’ll go home with a happy smile.
Go to church, join the choir, learn to sing,
Or do bell ringing, hear those bells ring.

A walking group if you like to hike,
A cycling club, if you prefer a bike.
If you’re a morning lark, a walk in the park,
A night owl, the cinema or theatre after dark.

Go to the pub for a pint and platter,
Sure to be someone to have a natter.
Join in the fun, have a game of darts,
Or sit a while, enjoy a game of cards.

A social club, for bingo, bridge or bowls,
You’ll soon make friends, all happy souls.
If politics are your particular thing,
Join the party, whichever way you swing.

Do you like music, then learn to dance,
Join a group, go on, give it a chance.
Waltz, quick step, tango or rock and roll,
Listen to the music, go for it heart and soul.

If none of the above appeals to you,
Then do something for others please do,
A rescue dog, he needs a good home, so faithful and true,
You’ll soon fall in love with him, and he’s sure to love you.

Work in a charity shop, or school canteen,
A volunteer driver, show willing, be keen
If you’ve lost someone very dear to you,
They wouldn’t want you to be sad and blue.

So get out there, enjoy yourself, have a zest for life,
Whether you’re a lonely husband or sad bored wife.
Life is not over when your working days are done,
Life is for living, the best days are yet to come.
