Grief
As most of you know I lost my beautiful daughter Vickie four years ago, I have written many poems about her since, this is one of them, but it could just as easily apply to anyone who has lost a loved one or someone who is grieving.
Grief
When someone dies you are left alone
A part of you is gone forever
For all past sins, you can’t atone
All links with God you try to sever.
Each sleepless hour spent in deep thought
As helplessness sweeps over you
In mental torment, you are caught
Emotions strained in all you do.
Your anger is aimed at everyone
You hit out at loved ones left behind
The person you loved in life has gone
Your world seems so cruel – so unkind.
Doing simple things makes you so tired
An overwhelming feeling of guilt
Common sense and reasoning all expired
The basics on which your life was built.
All thoughts are distant, somewhat afar
People pass by – they don’t seem to care
Your grief it doesn’t leave any scar
No one can see it – but it is there!
But remember when feeling sorrowful
When lying awake crying into the night
When all those heartstrings begin to pull
You’re weeping for those who’ve been your delight.
Missing you my darling xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
