Memories
Memories
A child excited, a tree glistening by the window.
The fire crackling in the hearth
Warm smells of cooking drift through the house.
Snow falling, whipped by the wind.
Icy fingers outside the door.
All warm and cosy this Christmas time
Father laughing at some tv show.
Mother bringing in hot mugs of chocolate.
Sweet mince pies, ready to eat.
Presents piled high wrapped up with bows.
Cards hung from strings, hopping robins and glitter.
Candles burning, casting flickering shadows.
Bells from a church ringing their song.
Carols being sung by little children.
Nativity plays that make mother’s cry.
Crackers with jokes that make us laugh.
Memories to remember, memories to make.
