Whether you want to copy the latest red carpet looks, discover new products, or learn how to master makeup classics, there’s a channel to suit you.
We take a look at some of the best channels on YouTube that you can visit to find hints and tips on how to help you apply makeup and look like a star.
Lisa Eldridge
As a renowned professional makeup artist who works with models, magazines and A-list actors and celebrities, Lisa Eldridge is a woman with a lot of makeup tips and tricks up her sleeve.
She uses her YouTube channel to recommend products, give advice on applying makeup, demonstrate ant-aging makeup tips and show how to apply makeup to look like a red carpet star.
There’s a brilliant list of ‘How To’ videos to help with basic makeup skills on Lisa Eldridge’s YouTube Channel, as well as specialist videos.
This ‘Menopausal Makeup Tips & Chat’ video is particularly inspiring, with some great tips and advice for getting a radiant, natural look.
Another excellent Lisa Eldridge video is her makeup tutorial for mature skin – it’s practical and informative, sharing some great tips while still creating a great makeup look that’s fun to wear.
Sali Hughes
As a former makeup artist and resident beauty columnist for Guardian Weekend, popular beauty journalist Sali Hughes is an expert on makeup. Her YouTube channel is a great place to start if you want to find out more about products on the market, see interviews with celebrities, and get tips for how to apply makeup.
Her interviews are far ranging, and she’s met celebrity makeup artist and businesswoman Bobbi Brown, looked around the bathroom of comedian and writer Caitlin Moran, and has even been shown how to do chef Gizzi Erskine’s trademark beehive.
However it’s her interviews with legendary makeup artist Mary Greenwell that are particularly popular, especially the video in which Greenwell reveals what she carries in her kit bag.
The video on ‘Products For Dehydrated Skin’ from Sali Hughes is another great one to watch, as it goes through how to identify dehydrated skin, and looks Sali’s recommendations for the best products to fix it.
Pixiwoo
The fun Pixiwoo channel on YouTube isn’t just a great place to get some tips on makeup – it’s also a one stop shop for people who are inspired by the makeup of movie stars and celebrities.
There are tutorials on Pixiwoo to help you get the smoky eyes of Donatella Versace, the elegant look of Nigella Lawson, the bombshell effect of Marilyn Munroe or the 60s chic style of Brigitte Bardot.
This tutorial for mature skin is a tasteful look and helps teach you make your eyes standout no matter what their shape.
Of course, for a bit of classic Hollywood glamour you can’t go wrong with the sophisticated Sophia Loren inspired makeup tutorial.

Another great YouTube channel for makeup video tutorials belongs to professional makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury.
Her glamorous makeup tutorial for women aged 60+ is a perfect look for a night out or party.
Another great video from Charlotte Tilbury is her tutorial on ‘Youth-Boosting, Radiant Makeup For 40+ Skin’, which is particularly useful if your skin is prone to redness.
