Would you have an artificial lawn in your garden?

It’s green, pristine and doesn’t need mowing, but gardeners argue artificial grass isn’t good for the planet.

Synthetic turf, may be lower maintenance, compared to a natural lawn but how much damage is fake grass is doing to the environment and wildlife?

Artificial grass is just as problematic as single-use plastics and apparently, 1 in 10 people who have a garden now have artificial grass. Motives behind this include fake grass being more durable and easier to maintain, and that some homeowners do not know how to seed a lawn. But synthetic turf can be more damaging to the environment than you think.

The Grass People have calculated the number of single-use plastic items that would fit into the average-sized garden fitted with artificial grass. Their research has also revealed how much single-use plastic could fit into all UK gardens with fake turf.

Plastic has become a major environmental issue around the globe and it is everywhere. From packaging to food containers, and toys to toothbrushes, and it is now even in our gardens in the form of artificial grass.
