Do you have potatoes with every meal?
A study looking at the nation’s relationship with the classic spud has found that Brits would rather go without alcohol or dessert at the dinner table than miss out on potatoes.
Almost half would sacrifice an alcoholic beverage, 37% would ditch dessert and one in five would rather go without water. The poll also found that the majority of people feel strongly that potatoes should be present on their plates at least once per day and many even stated that potatoes would have to feature as their last meal on earth.
Apparently more than one in three adults claimed that they would be disappointed and upset if a restaurant or loved one served up a dish that didn’t feature a trusty potato. Potatoes are shown to be the nation’s favourite main meal carb (66%) beating pasta (16%), rice (11%) and noodles (4%).
