Are trick or treaters welcome at your door this weekend?

With carved pumpkins of all shapes and sizes on doorsteps and all manner of ghouls and ghosties on display it can only mean one thing…the trick or treaters are on their way!

Love them or hate them costumed children of all ages have been knocking on our doors on 31st October in the hope of a sweetie or two for a good many years now – apart from last year that is.

In the midst of a pandemic and in an unvaccinated population, last year most parents thought it unwise for their children to be knocking on the doors of strangers and so by and large it didn’t happen, but this year seems to be a return to business as usual.

All indications are that Covid 19 infections are highest in children and according to the latest figures from the Office for National Statistics over 4% of 2 to 11 year olds and over 10% of 11 to 16 year olds had Covid 19 last week.

In light of these high infection figures amongst children in tandem with the slow rollout of boosters for the over 50s would you be happy with a trick or treater coming to your door?

Will you be answering the door to trick or treaters? Have you put safeguards in place so the children can still have some fun? Or will you be keeping your door firmly closed?
