Hello there, this is the first time I've come across local groups and as no-one has, so far as I can see, contributed here I thought if I put my greetings, as a so far also passive member, a conversation might be started. I'm Phil, a retired Careers Advisor with interests in F1, Cricket, history, "Progressive" Music and the father of teenage twins.

I appreciate I am not great with social skills, but I am amazed there are not any other posts on here yet. We will have different opinions and some may not wish to engage in extended conversations .... but you can at least say Hello!

I run a local walking group in the Alvechurch area. We meet at 10:30 on Thursday mornings for a walk, natter and usually refreshments in a cafe. It's all very laid back. Well behaved dogs on leads are usually able to come along as well. Find us on Facebook @alvwb or Alvechurch Walking Buddies. You can email me at [email protected]. We have members from Alvechurch, Redditch, Barnt Green, Shirley and Rubery. All are welcome. Obviously we aren't walking at the moment in a group but will be once again when the situation changes.

Hello to anyone thinking of joining be nice to chat with people. We all need contact in these very sad times. I live alone and am shielding so don't see anyone. My daughter and grandchildren see me at a distance weekly but it's hard with no hugs. We could at least chat and support each other. Kevin

Hello everyone. I have lived in Swalecliffe for the last 13 years and love it. My husband and I have enjoyed our daily walk along the seafront and during lockdown this has helped to keep us sane! The garden has never had so much attention either and I have even gone back to growing a few veg! How are you all coping?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for an organisation near the city centre that I can volunteer for, doing anything that helps. I live in Attwood Green (Lee Bank) and I am ready willing and able to help with practical stuff, IT/data input, or whatever needs doing. Andy.
