Winter Fuel Payments

In just a few weeks time the winter fuel payments will be sent out, now, I for one are very grateful that the taxpayer is helping me. but, Should this payment be paid in January/ February when the bills come in, not months before you have even used the energy. My biggest bill comes from the Yuletide period, and January and February often the darkest months and the coldest months when I use the most energy.

I dont have central heating and have to buy coal/wood to get me through the winter period. Receiving it after Christmas would be horrific. I live in my front room and need fuel now for my open fire. I am panicking that I wont get it before Christmas!

Simply pay the money into your energy account when it arrives, then you don't have to worry about it.

That is a brilliant idea. Thank you.

Come on guys, don't accept free money and then grumble about when you are given it.Pop it in the bank then it will be there when needed.

As I have already said, some people may be tempted to spend it on Christmas presents for relatives, even if it's in the Bank, it's still a temptation. Some of us are in a position to leave it in the bank as we can " get by ", some may be less fortunate

It isn't really 'free money' is it, we have paid for it through a working lifetime of high taxation, and now Ali Barbar and the 40 Thieves are 'giving' us something back, big deal.

It would make sense to make the payment at the start of the year, however it seems people in power seem to be out of touch with reality. I think there would be rather a large amount of people that could be tempted to spend the money on buying christmas presents for relatives and not worry about the bills until the time comes, that £10 bonus doesn't get you much these days

You can get a bottle of vodka in Lidl and drown your sorrows.

Myself, I'd spend to £10 bonus on a bottle of gin, lemons and tonic water
