Another new member saying hello!
Watch this postGood day all….just signed in and wanted to introduce myself. I am an expat returning from Western Canada after nearly thirty years and having recently lost my wife and best friend, I now find it necessary to come home and settle down to complete my retirement.
At the moment living in Switzerland with my daughter and son -in-law and due to take up residence in the Bicester area over the summer. Really hope to go back to my childhood passions of all things English countryside and relive my fishing days.
Interested to hear if anyone else has had a similar experience….looking forward to receiving any response at all!

In a similar situation insofar as living in an area my late husband originated fr0m - nice and rural until you are alone! My two dogs keep me sane...whilst I ponder a move north to where I originated from - and happy to chat with anyone in similar situation. Sometimes as we get older and have more problems the family not so keen to have us around!! Not very encouraging! So - hope to make new friends and support each other!
Sorry its taken so long to get back to you, I have had a pretty trying time finding my way around this site, however with the assistance of “georgesmum the fog is now clearing. Unfortunately I am now getting really close to my move to England(Wednesday) with things and stuff being pack and other stuff unfindable but once I get organised I”ll answer your post properly….please bear with me.

It must be a huge decision to move back from Canada to Europe after all those years! I lived in Washington state for two years when I first got married over fifty years ago, and that was a big wrench to leave and come back to England. Mind you, that all seems like a dream now. Wonder what would have happened if I’d stayed.
I assume you have family or friends in Bicester to make you welcome. Let me know how you get on.

I trust you’re starting to find your way around the site? I’ve been popping in and out for years and still keep getting lost or losing “posts” so there’s not much hope for me!
Are you still visiting your family in Switzerland? A beautiful country which I’ve visited on a couple of occasions.....I will never forget my first visit to Lucerne when I was in my early 20’s. Hopefully you’ll get plenty of sightseeing done before you leave for the UK.
To answer your question as to my whereabouts....no I don’t live in Oxfordshire but I retired to the South Wales borders on my retirement, having been born and bred in West Midlands.
Anyway, happy to chat away about nothing in particular!
Take care
Sandra
