Your Painted Smile

For Mental Health Awareness Day 2024.  And every other day of the year.  💜❤️

Your Painted Smile

Early mornings on repeat
After nights of broken sleep
Worries piling up so high
But you soldier on, try not to cry

People pleasing with your painted smile
Though your thoughts are racing all the while
You dot the I’s and cross the T’s
Whilst inside you’ve fallen to your knees

You’ve work to do to earn a crust
Your cash, it disappears like dust
You try to keep your head held high
And hide the painful tears you cry

Others, they rely on you
No doubt they haven’t got a clue
Of the troubles that do get you down
Or how hard it is to hide your frown

Your friends remark on how happy you look
Buy that’s just the cover of your book
Make this the time to share your woes
Because at the moment nobody knows

Please find the time to stem the tide
Reach out for help, no longer hide
This isn’t how it has to be
Please get some help to set you free
