Why?
This extremely poignant poem written by Jan Millward puts into words the question on the lips of many of us …
Why?
Why did you have to murder someone else’s son?
why did you spray with bullets young people having fun?
How can you ever justify the carnage that you made
don’t tell me that it was your god and you will now be saved.
Why did you let pure evil permeate your thoughts
Compassion was not in your soul as sanctuary they sought,
you can never justify the damage that you caused
but we will stand united and not live by your sword.
We won’t give in to terror, we’ll live our lives in peace,
your actions make us stronger, our watch will never cease.
Good will always conquer in the darkest of our days
and we will keep on watching for it’s shining golden rays.
