When I was young

When I was young

When I was young and active running round and round
Eating like horse not putting on a pound
I wandered all life’s byways, adventure I did seek.
And never had to piddle more than twice week.

Now I’m getting older the body’s slowing down
I’m no longer running all around the town
My trousers and my shirt are getting rather tight
Now I have to piddle fourteen times a night.

When I was young and fit I could run for miles and miles
Got back home had a shower then off out on the tiles
Now I’m getting older walking’s such a fuss
The only way I get back home is riding on a bus.

When I was young and strong without a single care
I had a lot of energy and also had some hair
Now that I am older the energy is less
Where my bloody hair has gone is anybody’s guess

When I was young, a brain between my ears
I could remember everything for years and years and years
Now I’m getting older that brain is so much thinner
I am lucky to recall just what I had for dinner.

When I was young it wasn’t all that hard
I could spot an ant at much more than a yard.
Now that we are older we need to wear our glasses
Or we never see the steps and fall upon our arses

When I was young …….
