Whatever Next!

I am sure everybody is feeling the pinch with the ever increasing cost of living crisis.  I know I am.  All the more reason we should be there for each other.   Just my thoughts put into verse:

Whatever Next!

With the doom and gloom on the daily news
Is it really a great surprise
That we’re feeling slightly anxious
With pound signs before our eyes

With the spectre of winter blackouts
And rising bills beyond belief
Surely something needs to be done
To give us some much-needed relief

We can cut back on baths and showers
And fill a flask when making a drink
We can eke out our food and batch cook
In fear of how low we could sink

Now a trip to the shops is alarming
As we gingerly edge to the till
The price of food has gone through the roof
But we still have our cupboards to fill

We work hard all our lives to make ends meet
To live a happy and fulfilling life
But the constant threat of soaring costs
Causes nothing but trouble and strife

May we all look out for each other
As we live through these times of unrest
We may not have pockets lined with gold
But caring is what we do best
