What did you learn during Lockdown?

What did you learn during Lockdown

Stuck in the house at lockdown,
you need not waste the days
People were inventive,
used time in different ways

Results could be fantastic,
which made me rather jealous
At seeking out new pastimes,
some folk were extra zealous.

Learn to play an instrument,
or train your voice in song
Some of the more brainy ones,
now speak  a foreign tongue

Others chose to garden,
make banana bread or jam
Knit jumpers for grandchildren,
crochet blankets for their pram.

Decorating lounge,
plastering the walls
Swivel hips for hula hoops,
or juggling eight small balls

Did you research your family,
catch up with friends on zoom?
Or get injured moving furniture,
to dance around the room.

Some have walked for many miles,
over hill and dales
But don’t dare visit Scotland,
stay far away from Wales

Myself I have  been lazy,
just exercised my pen
I will learn to improve my brain……
but I’m not saying when.

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
