We Can’t Go Back
Another poignant poem written by Martin Silvester … Sometimes we are not sure which path to take .. all anyone can do .. is their best.

WE CAN’T GO BACK
Have you ever wondered, as you wander through your life,
Just where your feet will take you, as you balance on life’s knife.
You go to work, you socialise, sometimes cry and sometimes laugh,
You do your best in everything, to navigate life’s crooked path.
The crossroads that you come to, give you choices to be made,
Left or right or straight on through, just don’t let your courage fade.
Look each way and look ahead, stay on the beaten track?
You won’t get anywhere at all, turning round and going back.
Don’t be afraid of new things, some are really worth their while,
So keep the things that bring you joy, put the rest in your discard pile.
If you don’t want to do something, or you feel that it’s not right,
Just walk on by and carry on, until it’s out of sight.
If you stumble or you fall, or you feel you can’t go on,
Or if you feel you’ve had enough and your courage has all gone.
Take a breath, stick out your jaw, tell yourself to get a grip,
You are made of sterner stuff, so go on..and sail your ship.
Help others if they need help, hold out a friendly hand,
It makes your journey meaningful, as you struggle through life’s sand.
There is no destination, set out in black and white,
For most of us, the road is hard, nothing gained without a fight.
So choose your path and carry on, who dares wins the day,
Just be brave and trust yourself, when life gets in the way.
Each step you take’s a chapter, in your very own life’s book,
So open it up and look at your life, it’s definitely worth a look.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve made mistakes, everyone’s guilty of this,
And a few wrong turns are acceptable, life can be very..Hit and Miss.
But we’ll carry on and do our best, play the cards that are dealt from the pack,
Learn from the things we wished we’d done, but…accept that we can’t go back.
