WASPI – Dreams lie in tatters

WASPI – Dreams lie in tatters

Dreams lie in tatters, shattered and torn,
Hope and ambition never is born,
All we who worked for our retirement day,
Have seen all our pensions moved further away.

Our pension is stolen for still more long years,
And lies have been told that bought many to tears,
All ladies who worked for an honest days pay,
Have seen all our pensions moved further away.

A lifetime of work for a target to meet,
And you pull the rug out from under our feet,
By a stroke of the pen in a dictatorial way,
We have seen all our pensions moved further away.

Shame on you all for this deed you pursue,
You must pay pension when pension is due,
All ladies deserve this so correct this today,
DO NOT MOVE OUR PENSIONS FURTHER AWAY!

Yours is the sin here, yours is the blame,
We acted sincerely, we played the game,
And we speak together and in honesty say,
Play fair with our pension, – play fair today!

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
