Walter The Mole
Walter the Mole
In his velvet jacket black as coal
Walter the mole is an elusive soul
Emitting no sound, tunnels underground
No true route he just wanders around
Walter’s mission? To wreck every lawn
A goal he’s held ever since he was born
It’s not really work it’s just a lark
Under the lawn it’s always dark
But with no eyesight, he needs no light
He just gets on with what he thinks right
Tunnelling under both grass or trees
Never cares about the mess he leaves
Creating a hill when he needs some air
Bob the gardener is left in despair
The lawn was flat when he left last night
Now this morning it’s a terrible sight
Causing damage and being a pest
The poor gardener will get no rest
Gardener Bob giving it some thought
Knows that crafty Walter must be caught.
His boss won’t be happy that is true
But what to do? He hasn’t a clue
An old mole catcher from the nursery
Could rid him of this dark adversary
This must be the way to end this duel
But could he be so nasty and cruel?
He’ll leave him alone just for today
Hoping Walter will quickly go away
If not, he’ll get the man with the traps
Then Walter’s time there will have elapsed.
