Time Stands Still
Time Stands Still
As summer claws its way across the Earth,
Winter’s migrants revisit safe haven,
Cherry blossoms, like relationships,
Flower majestically, then wither.
The day lengthens, bringing warmth,
Gone is the chill of the night,
Winds tempered to subtle breezes,
Driving rain, now refreshing showers.
Country walks transform their hue,
Green, in every shade, heralds a new age,
Autumnal browns and golds long forgotten,
As the farmer carves a fresh landscape, for all to see.
In an ever-changing world I remain unaffected,
The change of a season is just a setting,
My stage is static as the scenery revolves,
Everything on hold, till we meet again.
Gone are the colours, now lost to my view,
Sweet birdsong, beyond hearing,
Beauty, a forgotten perception,
Time remains irrelevant, without worth.
Diminished by your departure.
