The vote
Another poignant and very timely poem written by Jan Millward as a result of the Referendum, and the vote to leave the EU.
The Vote
So the country has decided,
the votes have all come in.
the people now have spoken,
more out than let’s stay in.
We may have years of sorrow,
we may have days of doubt,
but now we must move forward
we will work on through the drought.
This is a huge decision
we all have made our choice.
this is what we fought for,
A chance to have a voice.
So let’s all stand together
we are out of the EU,
we have to keep on going
whatever was your view.
So hang on to your values
we know we can be great,
we are a proud nation
we have decided our own fate.
We may not have a paddle
we might be up the creek,
we need to make decisions
to prove that we aren’t weak.
But we are still a nation
that stands up for what is right,
the history books will tell us
that we can face the fight.
Be grateful for the chances,
be thankful for our stand.
We really are so privileged
to live in this wondrous land.
