The Red Horizon’s of Australia

The Red Horizon’s of Australia

We watch as the bright red horizon consumes what stands in its path,
desolating the landscape in violence, showing force and strength of its wrath.
No man is a match for this monster, no calming this plundering beast,
annihilation and carnage the backdrop, destruction and death its fine feast.

The innocent have perished in millions, no chance of escape or reprieve,
perhaps their kind lost forever, a thought too awful to believe.
As the rescuer’s fight to contain it, they are driven to the point of despair,
Flames engulf all that matters without the time for a prayer.

Australia, we watch as you suffer, we witness the flames as they rage,
in solidarity we share in your sadness and pray that you may turn the next page.
We hope that the day comes more swiftly that the fiend is brought to its knees
and the sweetness of rain falls around you in the answer to everyone’s pleas.

Take comfort that many are with you as you journey the difficult roads,
we offer our bond in our friendship to hopefully soften the load.
no words can bring back the fallen, no truisms can ease every pain
the fire will abate and diminish and then time to rebuild once again.

Give thought to many now homeless give thought to the animals lost,
send love to the men and the women who fight all the fires at a cost.
Take time for quiet contemplation in honouring the fearless and brave
for much is owed to the hero’s and the animals that many have saved.

Prayers for Australia
