The Reality of Life
It’s always good to have fun….
The Reality Of Life
I think I’m ageing rather well, but my body disagrees,
It makes odd noises standing up, coming from my knees.
In my head I’m twenty-one, and as lithe as one can be,
but every sinew that’s within, is there to challenge me.
I refute the notion that I snore; it’s a fallacy I’d say,
my husband would rebuff my claim, in every single way!
The lines around my eyes are faint, relics of great fun,
just minute signs of adulthood, every single one.
My eyesight may be like a mole, but my glasses look so cool,
they make me look intelligent, rather than a fool.
Distinguished is my greying hair, mature like vintage wine,
accompanied by the wrinkled neck so gently now entwined.
I’m wearing clothes for comfort now, as stretch is number one,
expanding waistlines are my friend, those hour glass days are done!
The wine and cake have seen to that, but how can I resist?
I’m growing old disgracefully and I’m ready to enlist!
Seize each day and laugh out loud, don’t regret a thing,
cherish every precious day and all that it may bring!
Toast your glass with everyone as though it were your last,
giggle like a little child, but don’t live in the past!
