The Ravages of War
The Ravages of War
So many families torn in pain
With fighting that is all in vain
A blinded man sits, head in hands
this was the place he made his plans
for the future, with his love, his wife
why did this evil take her life?
The eerie sound of bullets flying
signals again that someone’s dying
It could be your child, it could be mine
thank you Lord, not this time
Please save our children from this fate
that makes us evil and full of hate
for those who start these dreadful wars
when battles are fought, the death toll soars
A baby cries, his mother is dead
who now will settle this child to bed?
What’s left behind when the tanks depart
just rubble, the stench and the broken hearts
