The Puzzle
The Puzzle
Life is like a jigsaw puzzle..started as a child,
With willy nilly pieces…laid out in disarray.
You’ll have some help..from mum and dad,
To get your puzzle underway.
They’ll help you find the corner bits,
Assist with edging frame.
But after that you’re on your own,
No two pieces..are the same.
There is no picture on the lid,
To help you find your way.
The picture forms as life goes on,
A piece for every day.
Each piece you find that interlocks,
Becomes a big part of your life.
Girlfriend, boyfriend, best friend,
Perhaps husband, or a wife.
Some pieces seem so hard to find,
You search for year on year.
And pieces that you thought you’d lost,
Sometimes..re-appear.
Lovely times..sad times,
Times that meant the world to you.
Places seen and people met,
Old homes and pastures new.
And so your puzzle grows and grows,
You add each piece with care.
So many people.. You have known,
You fit in..here..or there.
Sometimes you think you’ve found a piece,
That seems a perfect fit.
And so you try to force it in,
Then see..it’s the wrong bit.
And when your puzzles nearly done,
And there’s only one final piece to do.
Get someone you love to pop it in,
And finish it for you.
