The Power Of Words

The Power Of Words

Sometimes we hear a loved ones voice deep inside our mind
Repeating things they’ve said to us insensitive or kind

Spoken years before or as recent as yesterday
Involuntarily set to replay to spoil or make our day

The power of words are mightier than the sword it’s true
Capable of defending or criticising everything we do

Yet we are seldom mindful of what we freely say
Driven by our own ego unconsciously be it may

Once uttered like verbal arrows they fly straight to the heart
To be remembered and to cherish or to tear apart

To avoid recrimination we should take some sage advice
Adopt the ‘Golden Rule’ before speaking well heeded by the wise
