The Pension

Now that I’ve crashed into my sixth decade I now discover that I am too young for the state pension. Here is my protest poem 🙂

The Pension

The blighters have withheld my pension
by adding another six years.
Now I’ve reached that magical sixty
my age has gone in arrears.

It’s equal rights they just tell us
to keep us in line with the men.
The bureaucrats are clutching our lolly
so we have no money to spend.

They say we’re living much longer
so the coffers are needing to stretch.
Meanwhile we live in the doldrums
as impoverished and miserable wrecks.

The MP’s are sitting quite pretty,
no struggles to pay their fuel bills.
As they bask in sun on their recess,
we’ll sit in dark with the chills.

Now girls we must stand like an army
like the suffragettes’ did in the past.
Our pensions must be reinstated
or we march ‘till a bill has been passed.

So come on you Westminister skinflints,
pay up, or we will descend.
Reduce the age of retirement
to level that we comprehend.

Here Here !!!
