The Longest Day!
The Longest Day!
The longest day, in many ways,
The brightest sky, the warmest days,
The peak of summer, long last here,
The turning of, another year.
The longest day, when all abounds,
With nature’s song and summer’s sounds,
Warm sunshine bathes our golden land,
God holds our blessings, in his hand.
The longest day, once battle worn,
Our freedom threatened, then reborn,
Reborn anew, by life laid down,
A generation, never grown.
The longest day, is ours to see,
A granted gift, to you and me,
A summer solstice to rejoice,
With quiet thought, or hearty voice.
The longest day, with peace to hold,
A love and friendship, to unfold,
All worries now, we drive away,
Be thankful for the longest day!
