The Goodness Shines Through

The Goodness Shines Through

As we sit in our homes looking out at the war
Our hearts filled with sorrow; minds shocked to the core
The light that shines bright from this ultimate horror
Is the strength of the people, fighting for tomorrow

Through such fear and adversity, they hold their heads high
Soldiers cuddle children, to comfort them as they cry
Such strength borne from strangers, appalled by their plight
All pulling together, but no end yet in sight

The madness and suffering played out on our screens
Belongs only in our darkest, fictional dreams
The bombs and the bullets tear loved ones apart
But it can’t end the love for their country in their heart

The goodness and strength of these people shines bright
As they shield in their bunker in the darkness of night
Soldiers stand firm to defend what is theirs
As we watch on with love and keep them all in our prayers
