The Golden Age of 60

On the 15th March I will be 60. Some my thoughts on the matter…

The Golden age of 60

I’ve said ta-ta to fifty-hood,
It’s now a new decade.
I’ve joined the swinging sixties club
for countless escapades.

(Well I hope so!)

I think I’ll age disgracefully,
kick willpower to the wind.
No daft regrets or silly doubts,
for nothing to rescind.

If growing up is optional,
I think I’ll just stay put.
Outrageousness is rather fun,
than ending up kaput.

(Nothing immoral, illegal though!)

My body will now testify
that I’ve live my life quite well.
It’s travelled south below my mouth
and there it seems to dwell.

(Subtle lighting required!)

I’m ignoring all the droopy bits
and bits things that need a press.
I’m covering every mirror now
before I get undressed.

My eyesight has seen better days,
concealing many truths.
Cobwebs, wrinkles consigned elsewhere,
they’ve cleverly been removed!

(hopefully that ends housework eh?)

Six p.m is just superb
as it’s always ‘wine-‘o clock’.
My off licence is on speed dial,
so I’m never low on stock.

(bottoms up!)

Whether skinny dipping or a gig,
you can count me in for sure.
I’m grasping life with two firm hands,
there’s no time to ignore.

(he he he!)

So here I am, I’m sixty now ,
and as silly as can be.
Come on come on let’s have some fun
as the next stops seventy!!
