The Gift of Morning
This beautiful poem was written by Irene Kerr whilst she enjoyed the sights and sounds all around her one morning while on holiday at Fairmont British Columbia …
The Gift Of Morning
The swallows soared and dived with ease
An aerial dance between the trees
A glimpse of colour as they flew by
Swooping and darting in the sky
Joined by butterflies of every size and hue
They gaily fluttered in and out of view
Gossamer wings that soar
Lovely lepidopteras to adore
A sudden shimmer of blue flashed by
Belonging to a tiny dragonfly
Barely seen until it paused in flight
Translucent beauty an awesome sight
Robin chose to join the rest
As he showed off his fine red breast
Accompanied by his faithful mate
To enjoy this every morning date
Unseen birds sang their sweet hellos
Crickets and Hoppers added to the show
A perfect symphony and aerial sight
Giving the onlooker sheer delight
Natures gift to us each day
To be invited to this display
While flowers nod and dewdrops glisten
We just have to look and listen
