The Dye Episode
The Dye Episode
Now resembling a human badger, with a big old, whitened streak,
it was time to take some action, or some dyeing, so to speak!
Some hair dye was then ordered, a funky shade of red,
with a delivery in a couple days to reach my stripy head.
Action stations!
The parcel arrived and with heartfelt joy I ripped into the pack.
Eager now to dye my hair ,there was no looking back.
I employed the services of my spouse and he prepared the gunk.
No longer would I have a streak that looked more like a skunk!
Off we go!
He dibbed and dabbed each blob of tint and covered every part,
even the eyebrows got a treat, no doubt they’d look quite smart.
When we finished the procedure, each follicle was preserved,
with the timer set we sat outside relaxing as deserved.
Wait for it!
As we sat relaxing we both drifted off to sleep,
then awoken by our barking dog, we hadn’t heard the bleep.
It was two hours hence since the epic dye, so things were looking bleak,
my hair was every shade of red but I had no whitened streak!
And then?
We raced inside to wash it off and it was a mammoth task.
My just deserts for nodding off, for having that nice long bask.
The dog and cat then ‘clocked’ my hair and barked and hissed and growled.
They watched me as I re-emerged and continued as they scowled.
Oh dear!
After several days of growling pets a headscarf was applied,
at least they stopped the growls and scowls and scooting back outside.
I’m now consigned to scarves and hats for several weeks to come.
No longer like a badger skunk, just looking rather dumb!
Finally.
I’m embracing the badger look with pride, I’m done with dyes of red,
grey and proud and richer too, just white follicles on my head!
Now with glass in hand and cat on lap and the dog beside me too,
who would have thought a box of dye would cause such a hullaballoo!
