The Christmas Delivery Song
This poem can also be sung to the tune of a well-known traditional children’s song
The Christmas Delivery Song
I chose to buy my gifts online,
Christmas time, gifts online
To save my energy and my time,
All day long
I bought for the grandkids a quacking duck,
Wish their parents luck, quacking duck,
Loud and menacing quacking duck,
All day long
Credit card entered, then told to wait,
Gave me a date, told to wait,
The parcel would arrive and not be late,
All day long
Arrival slot from ten ‘til ten,
Twelve hours then, ten ‘til ten,
But they won’t say exactly when,
All day long
I sat in the chair and fell asleep,
Missed the beep, fell asleep,
And out of the van a man did leap
And it all went wrong
Did the driver ring the bell?
Did he hell, ring the bell?
He dropped it by the gate and the parcel fell,
All day long
The sky turned grey and down came the rain,
What a pain, loads of rain,
My parcel drenched, that’s such a shame,
All day long
I sent back the duck to shopping online,
Doorbell didn’t chime, that’s a crime,
But it keeps the drivers busy at Christmas time,
All day long
Delivery vans go beep, beep, beep,
Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep,
Delivery vans go beep, beep, beep,
All day long
