The Choice
The Choice
My thyroid is underactive which was news to me
although I’d noticed since I retired I had less energy
My knees began protesting when I climbed up the stairs
exiting a car and raising from most chairs
I’d always carried extra weight which had upped its bar I fear
I told myself I’d loose it alas when it wasn’t clear
I’d scour the web for info on the latest weight loss plan
My Monday mindset motivated to stay on the program
But Friday I had fudged up I sadly must admit
indulged throughout the weekend on Monday I would quit
Alas the vicious cycle continued until very recently
when I made a routine visit to my own GP
She upped my thyroid meds my bp was quite high
time to lose the weight as she looked me in the eye
I’d have to be mindful and record everything I ate
As to what and how much I piled upon my plate
I counted the bits and bites I allowed myself
motivated to do what was best for my heart and health
I’d finally reached the crossroad to my destiny
Whichever path I chose would be my longevity
