That taught her …and me
That taught her …and me
I’d done a bit of shopping, so was waiting in the queue.
Hadn’t bought a lot, just an article or two
As the line was moving slowly, I got a trifle bored
Cashier talking to her colleagues, customers ignored
The tone she used was haughty, I thought her rather rude
Offhand and dismissive, a dreadful attitude
When it came to my turn, I handed her my goods
Just a crusty loaf and a couple of rice puds
I double checked my change, after looking at the bill
Informed her it was wrong…..she snarled…you left the till
Mistakes cannot be rectified, as she pointed to a sign
Ok I answered pleasantly, the victory is mine
You gave me £5 over, have a very pleasant day
The folk behind applauded, as I smugly walked away
