Thank You
Thank You
Thank you to those who put food on our plates,
To the drivers and friends who leave bags by our gates,
Shop workers, shelf fillers who try to stay jolly,
And the people with wipes cleaning up every trolley,
Thank you to postmen and all warehouse sorters,
To carers, health workers and hospital porters,
Thank you to teachers and those who home school,
To children with homework who stick to the rule,
Thank you to chemists and doctors and nurses,
To those who donate to foodbanks from their purses,
Engineers and the teams who still empty our bins,
IT people, YouTubers, podcasters, admins,
Thanks to the TV, and writers of books,
To take away outlets, washer uppers and cooks,
Thank you to shoppers who help us stay home,
Collectors of pills and connectors by phone,
Thank you to councils, their staff and their clerks,
Politicians, civil servants, and the gardeners in parks,
To police, paramedics who save us from harm,
Firefighters who come when we raise the alarm,
To walkers who follow the two metre guide,
And folk who test vaccines while we stay inside,
Thank you for endless hand washing with soap,
And to those who inspire us with passion and hope.
