Taking the proverbial
Taking the proverbial
‘A bird in hand is worth two in the bush’
A bird in my arms is my preferred crush
Some say ‘better late than never’
Are they saying dead, that’s not very clever
‘Curiosity killed the cat’ which I don’t possess
For which I’m more curious I must confess
‘All roads lead to Rome’ who on earth said that
Of course they don’t, what the hell they getting at
‘Practice makes perfect’ so I’ve heard
So I’ll soldier on quite undeterred
To fix this rhyme on which I’m working
‘All work and no play’ and not for me shirking
What’s that saying ‘Easy come easy go’
Well it’s not easy coming, nothing seems to flow
Then again ‘Rome wasn’t built in a day’
Just a line or two more to finish this essay
They say ‘a rolling stone gathers no moss’
As for me I don’t give a toss
All this rhyming I’ll now suspend
‘All good things must come to an end’
