Sweet Queen of Mine

I couldn’t really understand why Neil Diamond’s Sweet Caroline was chosen as the ‘sing-along’ song for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

Great song though it is, I’ve written this parody with what I hope are more suitable lyrics.  Bit late now as the Jubilee long weekend is over. Oh well, better late than never!

Sweet Queen of Mine

Where it began?
Everyone knows about it.
It was in 1952.
You were a girl,
Not knowing what was coming.
But no-one could do it like you do.

And….every Land…. of these Isles
All agree,
We love you.

Oh, sweet Queen of mine
Good times never seemed so good.
Oh, I’d be inclined
To believe they never would….oh, look now….

This is the year
To celebrate your long reign
And what you mean to everyone.
You charm the world,
Never another like you.
Your smile is brighter than the sun.

Warmth…. loving warmth,
Reaching out….touching me…. touching you

Oh, sweet Queen of mine
Good times never seemed so good.
oh, I’d be inclined
To believe they never would
No, they never would……
