Supernatural Surprise
This poem was written by Irene Kerr, inspired by her recent mini break to the hot springs at Inveremere, British Columbia.
Supernatural Surprise
We journeyed west then turned south towards our destination
Through pine treed forests on either side with bounteous vegetation
Towards the sky and snow capped peaks at lofty elevation
Each winding turn among the pines invoking such elation
The babbling rush of crystal creeks accompanied our descent
The mountain flowers touched by a breeze released their strong sweet scent
Around a bend a sparkling lake so green came into view
Surrounded by lush reeds and plants of every tint and hue
The forest edge beside the road has rich grass growing there
Its allure accepted by a hungry small black bear
We looked in awe at nature’s gift who remained so unaware
Too engrossed in his repast of fresh and tasty fayre
To our surprise on down the road we came upon another
A tiny cub an awesome sight accompanied by it’s mother
We travelled on along our way rejoiced in jubilation
To catch a glimpse of this wildlife a splendid invitation
The hot springs washed the day away while we pondered on reflection
Of what we’d seen and experienced each detail worth a mention
To ride among the craggy peaks and valleys spread below
Then soak in misty sulphur pools with a fine merlot
