The start of a new day

The start of a new day

A rising mist
Through the tree’s
Silver cast shadows
Hangs over green leaves.

The clear path ahead
No one to be seen
But your not on your own
If you know what I mean.

The birds are in chorus
Name that tune
Some watch and listen
Others feed and groom.

The squirrels are out there
Aim and fire
No hits, some near misses
Climbing higher and higher.

Following the path
A leaf falls by my side
Autumn is coming
Summer goes out with the tide.

An eerie stillness
Some might say.
A walk in the woods
The start of a new day.
