Sprinkle Happy Seeds

Recently I saw a lady crying in a coffee shop.  It just reiterated for me that we never know what other people are going through.  Just a smile or a friendly word could mean the world to somebody who is quietly struggling.  This inspired my poem:

Sprinkle Happy Seeds

I sat drinking latte in a coffee shop today
And saw a lady cry
Such sadness strewn across her face
For which I knew not why

A hug of strength I wished to share
But it felt wrong to intrude
I tore my eyes away from hers
Not wishing to seem rude

It reminded me succinctly
How tough this life can be
We all try hard to hide our pain
So others do not see

I’d like to sprinkle happy seeds
And take away her pain
And line up endless sunny thoughts
So she can smile again
