Speed your journey

For Captain Sir Tom Moore ( We are so proud of you )

Speed your journey

Speed your journey. Haste ye home,
Battle over – battle won,
Let proud angels, bear you high,
Midst the eagles, piercing cry.

Speed your journey, to your Lord,
True your nature, to his word,
Let the cherubs, trumpet loud,
To the vast, adoring crowd.

Speed your journey, time for rest,
You are truly, heaven blessed,
Let the seraphs, tend you now,
Rest your head now, rest your brow.

Speed your journey, reap your reward,
Stand ye proud now, with your Lord,
By example, did you show,
Lesser mortals, – how to grow.

“Good night – God bless our hero” xx

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
