Snowy Day

Snowy Day

Grandma is standing by the window,
Gazing wistfully as softly, snowflakes fall.
Enthralled by the magical transformation,
As the glistening, white blanket covers all.

Grandad is huddled by the heater.
Grumbling that the snow is wet and cold.
Complaining ‘bout our northern wintry weather.
Grouchy, grumpy Grandpa’s growing old!

Children are playing on the hillsides.
Wellies, woolly hats and rosy cheeks.
Building snowmen, slipping, sliding, sledging.
Snowball fights, with laughter and with shrieks.

A snowy day leaves memories for everyone.
Some good, some bad, some new or in the past.
But memories are like footprints in the snowfall
Too soon the melting snow is fading fast.
