The Senior Discount Card
The Senior Discount Card
There’s a ten percent discount for me and for you
When we shop on a Wednesday at our B and Q,
We set off quite early, it’s not very far,
But we want the best space for our shiny new car.
We meet up with friends by the aisle full of glues
And lose our menfolk in the nails and the screws.
We glance at the lights and the tall wardrobe doors,
We dream of new kitchens and shiny new floors,
We walk past the mowers and floral displays
And try out the seats in the gardening bays
My husband buys light bulbs and a chunky drill bit
And explains how he hopes that the rule plugs will fit
Then we head to the check out to pay the small bill
And we join the short queue for the self service till
Where a young man assists with the touch screen and scanner
And swipes through our cards in a well practised manner
And at home we discover we forgot to buy grouting,
But the bathroom can wait until next Wednesday’s outing
