Say Gran

Say Gran

Say Gran do you remember when
Yes son, I remember then
I don’t, but I nod and make out I do
Well at my age that’s what you do

Memory’s so precious livin’ again
The things you used to do back then
How often I wish I’d put pen to paper
Every mood I felt, every prank and caper

I could tell this boy of days gone by
So he’d know I’d lived before I die
That I was young once so full of fizz
I danced my life, I’ve done the bizz

We talk sometimes and I hope he sees
Not senility or Alzeimers please
Just an old lady who’s still some fun
Be part of his memory when I’m done

Write it all down I’ll say to him
Before your memory starts to dim
Hold the moment it’s precious lad
Recall it later when you’re a grandad
