Ruby Valentine
My husband loved me writing for him and sorting out drawers I found he had kept this one.
Ruby Valentine
When we first got married, forty years ago
You had such thick dark wavy hair, tho’ now it will not grow
You were very studious, in fact you studied Freud
I was extra devious knew what subjects to avoid
You were always caring, endeavouring to please
I was quite a naughty lass, who was inclined to tease
You were very serious, I longed to hear your laughter
Now after years and years of work, I can’t say who is dafter
They said when we got married, our love wouldn’t last a year
Like a fleeting rainbow, it would quickly disappear
Although we have our spits and spats, sometimes enjoy a fight
I always know deep in my heart, that you are mister right
I value your opinions, you’re the best thing in my life
So happy Valentine today…….from your ever-loving wife.
