Retirement Reward
Retirement Reward
It’s snowing out again the weather is very cold
I really should stay home if the truth be told
The major roads will be cleared it’s not far to the nearest store
I ponder as I gaze out my front window pane once more
The sun is shining brightly now the sky is clear and blue
The snow glistening on my trees is magnificent to view
There’s a noisy magpie foraging on the rowan tree
Among the bright red berries it’s such a treat to see
I can hear a few birds singing hidden among the pines
Glimpsed a swift grey squirrel run across the overhead lines
Some kids are laughing as they trudge in groups along the street
It’s lunch time already I better make something to eat
I’ve decided to make soup a favourite thing to do
Surprise my better half and bake a bannock too
Maybe tomorrow I’ll venture out dressed in my warm attire
A decision totally up to me and you when you retire
No longer will you have to live by clocks and company time
You’ll soon receive that deserved reward and live a life like mine
