Raging Inferno
Raging Inferno
Forty fires were still burning today the newspapers reported
Thousands of people trapped in northern camps waiting to be transported
A convoy led by aircraft is leaving for a southern destination
Loaded up and ready there’s no time for procrastination
Taking the only road out of this hell and devastation
Caused by a raging inferno devouring forests towns and reservation
80,000 people have been evacuated needing sanctuary
While first responders fight to save what’s left of their great ‘city’
Fort McMurray the heart of Canada’s oil production
Engulfed by relentless wildfire flames of mass destruction
A diverse multicultural community a true north strong society
Brought to it’s knees in hours by this horrific catastrophe
After the dust is settled and what’s been lost is left to mourn
Decided what can be salvaged that’s not tattered burnt and torn
They will rise like a Phoenix out of the ashes and rebuild
Every home and business lost – an Albertan promise will be fulfilled
