Prospective Valentine
When I wrote it I had in mind an optimistic, sprightly eighty-four-year-old man
Prospective Valentine
He set off with a spring in his step
A smile upon his face
Hoped that he was dressed ok
And didn’t look out of place
He was doubtful of the flower
But she had specified a rose
‘Twas a pity he was allergic
To the pollen up his nose
She said she was aged fifty
He prayed she told the truth
Was seeking out an older man
And not a pimply youth
He arrived so very early
Was in such a nervous state
With pounding heart and trembling hands
On this…..his first blind date.
