Poem of Hope
I wrote this poem to honour anybody and everybody suffering in any way with their mental health.
We can all be there for each other. It really is OK not to be OK sometimes. This is for Mental Health Awareness Day. In fact, it is for everybody every day.
Poem of Hope
Have you ever wondered
What it’s like to feel OK
Do you find life hard
Do you struggle every day
But do you keep it secret
Locked deep within your being
Buried right inside of you
So afraid of other’s seeing
Some people, on the surface
Don such a good disguise
You’d be hard pressed to notice
The tears behind their eyes
There’s different types of struggle
Some who can’t get out of bed
Others caught up in a prison
Unwelcome thoughts invade their head
There are hundreds of reasons
Why you may not feel your best
A long-standing issue
Or a result of this covid pest
But whatever you are facing
Please don’t do it by yourself
Reach out to those around you
Let’s all support our mental health
It’s time we made a stand
So we all become aware
There is so much struggle in this world
Let’s show how much we care
Demand for help outstrips supply
With waiting lists so long
If we could offer our support
Perhaps we’d right this wrong
Wouldn’t it be nicer
If more people felt OK
If we all just pull together
I’m sure we’ll find a way.
