Please Don’t Give Up On Me

Please Don’t Give Up On Me

Can you see me, I mean the real me
Because I’m still here
Gripped by the claws of dementia
but begging to be free, to stay me

A dark fog is engulfing my world
It’s clouding up my mind
I’m frightened and wondering
why life is so unkind

If I could free myself of this crippling cloak
For half an hour or more
I’d show you how I used to be
Because I had a life before

Please don’t give up on me
As I need you by my side
Through the good times and the bad times
We must endure this bumpy ride

I absolutely love writing poems. Enjoying my garden and my dogs. I used to be an Age UK Befriender, which I would thoroughly recommend to anybody. So rewarding
